NOTE: February 28, 2009
This blog was originally created as an outlet for me, Dan, as a way to practice creative writing and to journal my thoughts and experiences. However, things have changed – life has taken a different twist.
On February 20, 2009, we received news that Michele has cancer – lung cancer – that has apparently metastasized to other locations in her body.
This blog site is dedicated to reporting on Michele’s progress throughout the course of her treatment. It is meant to be a means of communicating to our family and friends not only a journal of day to day events, but also our feelings, fears, insights and triumphs as we travel this path that has been laid before us. It will be honest and frank and I expect that there will be times when it won’t be very upbeat.
I encourage and request your comments as we share our journey with you. Your comments are every bit as important as anything that we post. We find ourselves reading them over and over again and gleaning encouragement every time. Sometimes I find something new in your comments that I missed the first time through. We need you, your words of encouragement and your prayers. Thank you for your friendship!

About Dan:
I’m an MK (missionary kid) – raised in the Philippines and Cambodia and graduated from high school in Vietnam.
I spent almost five years in the Navy and then became a police officer in California. I am retired from the Santa Ana Police Department, Santa Ana, CA. I also retired as Director of Safety and Security from Concordia University, Irvine, CA.
My wife, Michele, and I live in Tucson, AZ. We are members of Pantano Christian Church on Tucson’s east side. We have five beautiful grandchildren who, unfortunately, don’t live in Tucson!
I am self employed as a private investigator here in Tucson. Michele is director of Valley View Early Learning Center in the Catalina Foothills School District of Tucson.
